About | Sidetracked Comics

Getting into comics just got a lot easier.

Whether you’re a new reader looking for character-focused reading guides or a longtime fan looking for in-depth comic book reviews, my mission with Sidetracked Comics is simple: I want to help you read great comics.

Over time, this site will become a resource showing you:

  • Reading guides for the biggest comic book characters
  • Comic book reviews of trade paperbacks, graphic novels, and the latest (and best) collected editions
  • Recommendations based on other books, writers, and artists you already like

There’s a multiverse of comics out there for you to explore. Sidetracked Comics aims to become your #1 guide.

Who am I?

So I guess I should introduce myself, huh?

My name’s Joe, and I’ve been looking at comics since before I could read and reading them since as soon as I was able. A huge Marvel fan as a kid, myself and a friend were lucky enough to get a guided tour of the Marvel UK offices after we sent them our own homemade superhero comics. It was an experience that cemented a lifelong love for these four-colour funny books.

As I started to learn more about all things comics, my tastes expanded to include DC Comics, Image, IDW, Oni Press, Fantagraphics, all the way through to the UK small press. Basically, anything and everything good in the world of sequential art.

Simply put: I love comics. And I’d love to help you love comics as well.

Small press reviews

The UK small press scene continues to grow more vibrant and accomplished by the year. There are so many great writers and illustrators out there worthy of your time, covering a range of stories in a range of styles that you simply won’t find with bigger publishers.

If you’ve got a small press comic that you would like me to review on the site, get in touch here.
